Ethiopia / UK
Advising on programme development for the independent Ethiopian Teachers Association. The secretariat was based in London, UK.

Sierra Leone
Reviewing existing programmes of a number of civil society organisations and development of a renewed multi-actor Child Protection Programme

South Sudan
• Team leader for a Fact-finding Mission Education: fact-finding on possibilities for concerted Dutch support for reconstruction of the southern Sudan (basic) education system; advising on programme areas and programmatic set-up and developing of a follow-up trajectory
• Reviewing the first pilots of the Upper Nile Southern Sudan Education Programme for ICCO, further development of the programme, developing of concept notes and programme proposals for various funding agencies. The programme focused on education for work, girls’ education and education for peace.
• Evaluation of the ‘Elk Kind Telt’ education programme of Save the Children Netherlands; advising on short and longer term adaptations in programme focus, priorities and strategies

Sudan (North)
Facilitating a participative evaluation as a preparation of the formal external evaluation of the Save the Saveable Programme, a basic education programme for internally displaced children, run by the Catholic Archdiocese of Khartoum.

Surinam
Fact-finding on possibilities for concerted (ICCO and ZZg) support for an Education for Work programme, aimed at improving basic education completion rates in the interior, and providing young people living in the interior access to transition to work education trajectories; assisting the development of an Education for Work programme and advising on programme priorities, approach and management

Uganda
• Team leader for a review of the Basic Education Support Programme, the joint education programme of the Catholic Church and the Church of Uganda in four districts in Northern Uganda and advising on future directions of the programme
• Advising the Church of Uganda and the Catholic Church on how to read the evaluation report on the Basic Education Support Programme and how to adjust their education programme to the changed circumstances
• Team leader Fact finding mission on accountability in education: mapping the existing programmes, projects and initiatives aimed at promoting public accountability in the education sector advising ICCO and Church in Action on how to support further strengthening of accountability in the education sector
• Evaluation of the ‘Elk Kind Telt’ education programme of Save the Children Netherlands; advising on short and longer term adaptations in programme focus, priorities and strategies

The Netherlands
• Development of a Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation guide for programmes in the education sector for project officers of Dutch co-financing agencies
• Member of the reference group for the IOB evaluation of the Dutch contribution to education between 2000-2010
• Advising on a mapping exercise as preparation the development of an education programme in Papua, Indonesia and feedback on the draft report of the mapping exercise for ICCO and Justia et Pax
• Evaluation of the ‘Elk Kind Telt’ education programme of Save the Children Netherlands in Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast (based on files available in Netherland); advising on short and longer term adaptations in programme focus, priorities and strategies
